Prayer Of Commemoration For The Saints

As we commend our loved ones to God along with our feelings of grief, let us commend our lives to God.
Lord God, you have surrounded us with so great a cloud of witnesses. Grant that we, encouraged by the example of your servants (each may name the person quietly) may persevere in the course that is set before us, to be living signs of the Gospel and at last, with all the saints share in your eternal joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Benediction

Now may you be assured by the power of God
that after the scars come the stars
after the night comes a new day
after winter comes spring
after the cross comes the resurrection
after death comes eternal life
after the struggle comes peace.
So may it be for you
as the Spirit of Christ works within your heart.
