Jo`s greatest joy in life was her family. After dedicating many years to raising her 8 children, Mom continued to shine as Granny. Mom was proud of her Scottish and Cape Breton heritage and we enjoyed Gaelic and fiddle music at home over the years. Mom`s needlepoint, sewing and knitting are still appreciated by family. Granny`s mittens were the best. Outside of family, Mom always managed to find time for volunteer pursuits. Birthrite, Religious Education, Marriage Encounter, Cursillo and the Palliative Care Unit at the Halifax Infirmary were beneficiaries of Mom`s energy.

Special thank you to her caregivers at Melville Lodge who cared for her during her illness and offered tremendous support to her and her family in the last few days.

Nancy Moore

Obituary for Nancy Jane Moore (Bill Gray's Sister)
April 10, 1954 - February 13, 2010

NANCY JANE MOORE (nee GRAY) On Saturday, February 13, 2010, in Paris, France, the world lost an amazing woman. With courage, grace and dignity, Nancy battled the enemy within. It may have destroyed her body, but it never diminished her spirit. In her youth, Nancy travelled the world, making lifelong friends wherever she went. Her love of travel prompted her to earn a diploma in Travel and Tourism from Humber College and then a Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University. She had a phenomenal memory and her aptitude for finances led her to a 25 year career with the Bank of Nova Scotia. Then she found her 'dream job' as a Financial Consultant with Investors Group, where friends became clients and clients became friends. She had great common sense, never lost her cool under pressure and always had time to help anyone, anywhere with anything. Predeceased by her mom Bev Gray, she has always been her father, John's beloved 'Pooh'. She loved and was loved by husband Jim, daughter Alana 'Bird', step-children Ryan, James and Kathleen, brother Bill, wife Cathy and their children James and Sarah, brother Rob and sister Arlene, aunts, uncles, cousins and their families, and the many, many friends, who are too numerous to name - you know who you are and how Nancy felt about each and every one of you. She will live on in the memories of all those who loved her. Friends were invited to call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto, at Windermere. Funeral Service were held at St. George's-on-the-Hill Church, 4600 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. Interment St. George's-on-the-Hill Churchyard Cemetery. Obituary for David William Gillespie
1954 - 2009

In his 55th year, long term resident of Mississauga, passed away on the streets of Toronto, October 1, 2009.

His decline was precipitated by lung disease, his last year marked by oxygen deficient dementia. Funeral service took place at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, 161 Hanmer Street West, Barrie, ON at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2009. Interment is at Barrie Union Cemetery.

Dave or some would call him Gill was the middle child amongst the seven children of Margaret Mailer and Gordon Gillespie. He had four brothers, George of Mississauga, Bob (Mary) of Phoenix, John (Debbie) of Collingwood, and Douglas (Rachel of Barrie) as well as two sisters, Barbara Guitard of Barrie and Mary (Julius) Kairys of Toronto.

Thirteen nieces and nephews, Patricia of Kingston, Benjamin of Port Hope, Rachel of Phoenix, Kory and Vanessa of Collingwood, Diana, Sherry, Tina, Anne and Jim of Mississauga, Paul of Toronto, Jamie and Adam of Barrie will miss his stories.

Dave was ill most of his life with the last year his worst. In his last year his illness created many rifts amongst his friends and family as they did what they could to assist him.

David was very fortunate to have the love and support of Ben Duong and his wife and their children for many years. There are no words to express just how much of a difference your sacrifices made in David’s life. He always thought of you as family.

The family has been humbled by the compassion provided to Dave by many people these past few months; especially, M.L. and the elderly gentleman on Bay Street who daily assisted Dave with food and money.

We will remember Dave as an intelligent and imaginative person. The voices he used and the stories he told brings smiles to our faces. The Dave we knew will be greatly missed.
