Messy Church

What is Messy Church?

Messy Church

We meet at 4:00 for crafts. Then in the church we have story time with Rev. Alex – participation required! We have songs and a prayer before we have a simple supper of pizza, salad and ice cream sandwiches. All are welcome. If you have questions, please speak to Rev. Susan at revsusan@rogers.com

It is an enriched children and family program of Christian Education.

It is an introduction to the greatest parables and stories of Jesus and the Bible that teach the values of love, truth and justice as well as the belief in God Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. This happens with the supportive presence of parents or grandparents or other adult. It is interactive with lots of fun and creativity.

Because we meet once a month from 4:00 to 6:00pm on a Saturday, we have time for story, drama, prayer, song, and themed crafts along with a family supper prepared especially for the occasion. As we arrive there is snack and registration and immediately go to craft activities. Following that we move into the church for story, drama, song and appropriate prayer. It is a very enriching education and family experience.

It is led by the Rev. Alex Hewitt and Mrs. Mardy Hewitt who have long experience in successful creative children and family ministry. Both have been teachers and are trained and experienced in Messy Church program and vision. The Reverend Canon Simon Bell and leaders from St. Margaret’s share and facilitate the program as well as provide a very excellent family supper at no cost.

In the modern commuter society and in a high energy city with many choices, we invite you to choose once a month to give children a rich and engaging experience of the values and spirit of Jesus.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16
